Port of Call (POC) activities in February 2010 in Chennai.


Shri Ravi Chopra, General Secretary had been invited by the Director General for Policies on Cohesive Societies, Cabinet office, Government of Japan to participated in the conference of Government /Semi Government officials In - Charge of the  22nd Ship for World Youth Program held in the Cabinet Office,Tokyo on 18-19th June 2009 along with Shri G. Rajasekaran, Director, RGNIYD. The conference was very useful for presenting the plans from SWYAA-India during the Port of Call (POC) activities in February 2010 in Chennai.

The following proposals from SWYAA-India were accepted and incorporated in the plan of POC:

 

  1. Ex-PY support during the POC activities- SWYAA-India will coordinate with 8-10 Ex-PYs to accompany and assist the administrative staff members during the POC activities from 17-19 February 2010.

  2. On board reception by Government of Japan- Around 20 Ex-PYs will participate in the reception. Amongst them around 10 Ex-PYs will stay on board for the duration of the POC activities (for 2 days) and accompany the PYs during their filed visits. SWYAA-India will do a 5 minute presentation on the activities during the reception

  3. Exhibition and presentation- SWYAA-India will display a photo exhibition and give a presentation to PYs regarding their post -program activities and would be presenting it on board so that PYs can see that these activities can be carried out by the Ex-PYs. The Government of Japan will coordinate with SWYAA-India about the exact number and size of panels for photo exhibition.

  4. Welcome dinner - During the preliminary visit to Delhi of the officials from Cabinet Office in September/ October 2009, SWYAA-India will be hosting a welcome dinner which  they have very kindly accepted.


Further, we took this opportunity to present 'Our World One World' book of photographs by slum children to the following officials and explained  about the collaborative project of SWYAA-India with Canon India Private Limited for bringing out the talents of the underprivileged children.
