Indo-Japan Musical Evening
Indo-Japan Musical EveningSWYAA-India organized an Indo-Japan musical evening to commemorate SWY20th year topromote cross cultural alliance and exchange between our two great countries. The main singer for the evening was Mr. Pradip Somasundaran, Ex -Participant of the Ship forWorld Youth (SWY) program. Mr. Pradip Somasundaran, was the winner of the LataMangeshkar Trophy for the best male singer of popular TV program “MERI AWAZ SUNO”. Heis a playback singer for Bollywood movies and albums. He sings in several languages includingJapanese. He is the Principal of College of Applied Science in Kerala and teaches Electronics

Others who performed those evenings were Ms. Akane Ozava, Japanese school who played theIndian instrumental music on the Sitar, Ms. Mayuko Yoshida from Canon India Pvt.Limited sang a Hindi song, school children from the Blue Bells school sang Japanese songsand Ms. Archana Jayakrishnan from Nucleus Software company sang in Japanese along with Mr.Pankaj and Mr. Rahul. A gathering of about one hundred persons witnessed the programmewhich included people from India and Japan. The inauguration of the programme was done bylighting the lamp of friendship by Mr. Kensaku Konishi, President and CEO, Canon India, Mr.Kojiro Uchiyama, Director, Japan Information Center, Embassy of Japan, New Delhi, Mr. ArjunAsrani, former Ambassador of India to Japan, Mr. Teruyuki Hoshina, Director, Japan Foundationand representatives of SWYAA-India.

SWYAA-India organized an evening of Indian classical vocal ‘’Dhrupad’’ singing by Mr. Inoue Sou, Shinto shrine musician from Japan. He enthralled the audience with his deep resonating singing and correct pronunciation of the Hindi devotional music. He was accompanied on the Tabla and Tanpura by two Indian musicians studying with him in the presence of their master Mr.K.Dagar, a renowned exponent of Dhrupad singing
